How to make Crumbles the cookies & cream ice cream cow
To make Crumbles you will need to first get my ice cream cows pattern. You can get the pattern here.
Yarns I used for Crumbles:
- Super chunky chenille yarn in cream
I used Cygnet Jelly Baby Chunky in ‘Vanilla’ (cow body)
- Super chunky chenille yarn in black
I used Yarnsmiths Chenille Chunky in ‘Black’ (hooves, 1 ear, nose & cookie)
- Super chunky chenille yarn in dark brown
I used Hobbii Baby Snuggle in ‘Grizzly’ (sauce splatter)
- Super chunky chenille yarn in pale brown
I used Cygnet Jelly Baby Chunky in ‘Teddy’ (cone)
- Super chunky chenille yarn in white
I used Hobbii Baby Snuggle in ‘White’ (cream swirl & middle of cookie)
- DK yarn in black (tail tassels)
How to make Crumbles:
Start by following the pattern to make your cow (in cream and black), cone (in pale brown), sauce splatter (in dark brown) & cream swirl (in white).
Then assemble as per the pattern.
Then to make the cookie do the following:
Make 3x cookie ‘disks’. 2 in black, 1 in white.
Rnd 1: 6sc into magic ring (6)
Rnd 2: 6inc (12)
Rnd 3: (1inc, 1sc) x6 (18)
Fasten off all 3 disks. Leave a long tail on one of the black disks for sewing, but cut the other yarn tails short on the other 2 cookie disks.
Then place all three disks on top of each other (with the white piece in the middle). Make sure the backs of the black pieces are facing inwards!
Then sew round the three pieces to attach them together. I sewed between rounds 2 and 3 of the disks so that the black sewing yarn wouldn’t cover any of the white cream inside the cookie!
Once the cookie is made, sew it into the middle of the cream swirl. I like to sew mine at a slight angle!
Then take a long strand of black chenille yarn and sew little cookie chunks all over the body. Vary the thickness and size of the chunks for a more realistic look!
