Tips for working with fluffy/fuzzy yarn

Working with fuzzy or fluffy yarn can be incredibly daunting and I definitely wouldn't recommend it until you are a confident crocheter! But 'how do you work with fuzzy yarn?' is one of my most frequently asked questions so I've put together a list of my top tips for working with fluffy or fuzzy yarn:
1) Get comfortable with the fact that you will not be able to see your stitches. Don't even waste your time trying!
2) Instead, learn to feel for your stitches! It will be tricky at first but as with anything, it does get easier! Practise with a blanket or chenille yarn first and really learn what the stitches feel like rather than relying on what they look like.
3) Accept the fact that you will need to count your stitches for every round (at least until you get more confident with using this type of yarn).
4) Choose a pattern you are really familiar with when you first start out using fuzzy yarn! I would not recommend using it on a new pattern for the first time you try it!!!!
5) Know and accept that sometimes your stitch count will be off. You may sometimes accidentally miss a stitch, or add an extra one in. This is ok and can easily be corrected by increasing/decreasing on the next round. The beauty of this yarn is that it is very forgiving! You won't be able to see mistakes like you would if using non-fluffy yarn so don't stress about it!
6) Lastly, don't give up!!! Remember when you learnt to crochet....was that easy?? (I expect not!) Did you think about giving up? (I bet you were tempted!) It's the same with using fuzzy or fluffy yarn, it is hard to begin with and does indeed add an extra challenge, but keep going because the results are so worth it!
