My fluffy/fuzzy yarns & where I get them from!
Share
I often get asked about what brands of yarn I use so I've put together a little blog post about my favourite yarns and where I get them from.
I use chenille yarns for about 80% of my plushies, so if you're wanting more info about those types of yarns then check out my post about the chenille yarns I use and where I get them from here.
I also use a fair number of fluffy/fuzzy yarns in my work so this is what I'm going to share with you now.
For context I live in the UK and these are the yarn options I've found work best for me and that I can get hold of relatively easily.

Scheepjes Sweetheart Soft:
You can get this yarn online here:
https://ritohobby.co.uk/1435-scheepjes-sweetheart-soft
Pros:
- It's fairly soft (I'd call it fuzzy rather than fluffy)
- It comes in a good range of colours
- It's on sale relatively often
- It doesn't shed
Cons:
- It's not as soft as some of the other fuzzy/fluffy brands of yarn I use
I use this type of yarn for my sprites (as pictured below) and various other plushies and I tend to use a 5mm hook with this yarn. It gives more of a towel-y feel rather than fluffy.

Scheepjes Sweetheart Soft Brush:
You can get this yarn online here:
https://ritohobby.co.uk/1436-scheepjes-sweetheart-soft-brush
This is pretty much the same as the Scheepjes Sweetheart Soft but is ever so slightly softer and is not a flat colour. They work up as more of a mottled/speckled effect.
Again, I use this with a 5mm hook and mainly use it for my sprites.

Cygnet Yeti:

You can get this yarn online here:
https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/cygnet-yeti-all-colours
Pros:
- Lovely and soft
- Doesn't shed
- Not too expensive
Cons:
- Limited colour range
I've been using this yarn for bunnies, highland cows and Nessie monsters and I've been using a 5.5mm hook with this yarn. The fluff on this yarn is medium in length. It is very soft to work with and looks gorgeous.

Scheepjes Furry Tales
You can get this yarn online here:
https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/yarn/scheepjes-furry-tales-all-colours
Pros:
- It's incredibly soft
- It comes in a nice range of colours
Cons:
- It sheds fluff everywhere!
- It's a little more expensive than other fluffy yarns
I use this yarn for my Pufflings, Nifflers and for adding fluff to dragons! I tend to use a 7mm or 8mm hook for this yarn. The fluff on this yarn is quite long and is definitely a bit more of a challenge to use!

Himalaya Koala:
I personally love this brand but it is manufactured in Turkey and getting hold of it in the UK is tricky. There are lots of Etsy sellers who sell this yarn but shipping prices can be high.
Pros:
- It's lovely and soft
- It doesn't shed
- It comes in a good range of colours
Cons:
- It can be tricky to get hold of this brand in the UK!
- Shipping to the UK can be pricey
I was using this brand of yarn a fair amount and then I found Cygnet Yeti which is pretty similar in texture and size so I switched to that since it's easier for me to get hold of. However, when I do use Himalaya Koala yarn I use a 5.5mm hook.

Sirdar Snuggly Snowflake Chunky and Snuggly Bunny:
These can both be found online here:
https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/sirdar-snuggly-snowflake-chunky-50g-all-colours (Snuggly Snowflake Chunky)
https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/sirdar-snuggly-bunny-all-colours (Snuggly Bunny)
These are both a little on the thin side for my linking so I tend to double strand these when I use them (by double strand I mean run 2 lengths of yarn alongside each other when crocheting). This makes it quite expensive to use so I don't often do it!
Pros:
- Really soft
- Thinner than other brands so useful for smaller details/plushies
- Doesn't shed
Cons:
- Limited choice of colours
- Thinner than I'd usually like
- Quite expensive if you decide to double strand it like I do!
When I do use this yarn I use 2 strands alongside each other and I used a 5.5mm hook.

I hope this has been useful!
