How to make your very own spooky cauldron pin cushion!

Materials:
- DK yarn in grey (cauldron)

Hooks & Yarn:
You can use any yarn you like! You could even make this using plush chenille yarn with a larger hook to make a bigger cauldron for an amigurumi plushie!

For the cauldron pictured in this pattern, I used DK yarn (a mixture of brands) and a 3mm hook.

Instructions

Work in continuous rounds & use a 3mm hook.

Cauldron pot (in DK dark grey):
This piece uses a bobble stitch to make the feet of the cauldron.

To complete a bobble stitch:
*Yarn over, go into your stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops* - repeat this 4 more times (5 times in total) into the same stitch until you have 6 loops on your hook. You will then yarn over and pull through all 6 loops in one go to finish off the bobble stitch.

Rnd 1: 8sc in magic ring (8)
Rnd 2: 8inc (16)
Rnd 3: (1sc, 1inc) x8 (24)
Rnd 4: 1sc, 1inc, (2sc, 1inc) x7, 1sc (32)
Rnd 5: 3sc, 1inc, 1sc, 1 bobble st, 1sc, 1inc, 3sc, 1inc, 3sc, 1inc, 1sc, 1 bobble st, 1sc, 1inc, 3sc, 1inc, 3sc, 1 bobble st, 1sc, 1inc, 1sc, 1inc (37 stitches + 3 bobble stitches)
Rnd 6-10: 40sc (40)
Rnd 11: (3sc, 1invdec) x8 (32)
Rnd 12: 32sc (32)
Rnd 13: 1sc, 1invdec, (2sc, 1invdec) x7, 1sc (24)
Rnd 14: 24inc (48)
Rnd 15: ch1 and then invdec in the back loops all the way around, sl st to join at the end of the rnd (24)

Fasten off and weave in the ends. Fold over the lip of the cauldron and stuff firmly.

Cauldron potion (in DK green):
Rnd 1: 6sc in magic ring (6)
Rnd 2: 6inc (12)
Rnd 3: (1inc, 1sc) x6 (18)
Rnd 4: 1sc, 1inc, (2sc, 1inc) x5, 1sc (24) – if your potion circle covers the top of the cauldron then stop here, if not continue to next rnd
Rnd 5: (1inc, 3sc) x6 (30)

Now we can make the potion drips.

- 1sc
- 1st drip: ch6 and then starting in 2nd ch from hook: 1sc, 1sc, 1hdc, 1hdc, 1dc
- 2sc
- 2nd drip: ch7 and then starting in 2nd ch from hook: 1sc, 1sc, 1hdc, 1hdc, 1dc, 1dc
- 4sc
- 3rd drip: ch4 and then starting in 2nd ch from hook: 1sc, 1hdc, 1hdc
- 2sc
- 4th drip: ch5 and then starting in 2nd ch from hook: 1sc, 1sc, 1hdc, 1hdc
- 3sc
- 5th drip: ch7 and then starting in 2nd ch from hook: 1sc, 1sc, 1hdc, 1hdc, 1dc, 1dc
- 4sc
- 6th drip: ch4 and then starting in 2nd ch from hook: 1sc, 1hdc, 1hdc
- 3sc
- 7th drip: ch6 and then starting in 2nd ch from hook: 1sc, 1sc, 1hdc, 1hdc, 1dc
- 3sc
- 8th drip: ch5 and then starting in 2nd ch from hook: 1sc, 1sc, 1hdc, 1hdc
- 2sc

! Stop here if your potion disk was 4 rnds (24 stitches). Fasten off and leave a long tail. If your potion disk was 5 rnds (30 stitches) then continue onwards:

- 9th drip: ch7 and then starting in 2nd ch from hook: 1sc, 1sc, 1hdc, 1hdc, 1dc, 1dc
- 4sc
- 10th drip: ch4 and then starting in 2nd ch from hook: 1sc, 1hdc, 1hdc
- 2sc

Fasten off and a leave a long tail.

Assembly
- Sew the potion splatter over the top of the cauldron. Make sure you sew through the ends of the potion drips to secure them against the side of the cauldron.
